Have you ever wondered how children learn? How you can learn to be great homeschool teacher, and even a better parent? The Charlotte Mason Home Education Series has answers to these questions and so many more. They are books you will turn to again and again. You can read a bit more about this wonderful curriculum for teacher training on our Charlotte Mason page and the Charlotte Mason FAQ. There are suggestions for where to begin reading, how to annotate as you read, and where to find lesson plans and online support. If you have additional questions, just ask them in the comments section of the FAQ page, and I’ll do my best to answer or point you in the right direction.
Although these books are available digitally, I strongly recommend not trying to read them on a screen. Because they were written 100+/- years ago, the vocabulary and sentence structure are somewhat challenging, and you’ll want to slow down, make notes in the margins, and read and re-read in order to appreciate the wisdom and practicality of what Miss Mason teaches. Beyond that, there is ample evidence that reading from a screen is significantly less effective for learning than reading from a book. I bought my set many years ago, and it has been a wonderful investment — not just for teacher training, but for understanding education and living with wisdom and virtue.
Living Books Press (LBP), the publisher of this beautiful Australian edition of the Charlotte Mason Home Education Series has purposely designed these books for study, with ample margins for notes and a clear, easy-to-read typeface. Page numbers match the original editions for easy reference. LBP and I both believe strongly in the value of these books for homeschooling parents, and have kept prices as affordable as possible, with an added discount for purchasing as a set. I hope you will find them as thought-provoking and inspiring as I have.
