The Everyday Entrepreneur

Traditional Business Opportunities

I know I keep talking about web-based businesses, but that's not the only kind of business that can be operated from home. Long before I had internet access, I had home-based businesses, and I know many other people who still operate substantial non-Internet businesses from their home. I had a calligraphy business, but there are many other kinds of businesses that can be based at home. As I've mentioned before, just because a business is based at home, it doesn't mean that all or most of the business activities must be performed at home.

Are you skeptical? Just take a look at this partial list of the possibilities!

Services

Products

It's sometimes harder to produce a product at home, but it can be done. A quick trip to an art or craft show will convince you of that!

  • Fine Art
  • Music Production
  • Crafts
    • Basketry
    • Weaving
    • Pottery
    • Calligraphy
    • Jewelry
    • China Painting
    • Wood Crafts
    • Custom Sewing
    • Quilting

Professionals

Many professionals even work full or part-time from a home office. Here is a list of some of the home-based professionals that I've used or encountered:

  • Veterinarian
  • Accountant
  • Lawyer
  • Real Estate
  • Adjunct College Professors
  • Writers

Each type of business has special considerations, and I will write more about them soon, so be sure to visit again!
